I am moving to Visalia after spending 2 wonderful years tutoring amazing students in San Jose.
Many of my students had various disabilities, which I enjoyed helping them work through. I have learned that a disability label does not mean that there is a one-size-fits-all solution for all the students with that label; students are individuals with individual struggles and strengths. I enjoy discovering what strategies work with my individual students and helping them use those strategies to achieve success in school and on tests.
I had several students that I worked with on both reading/writing and math during the school year, and I also taught an elementary writing class on Saturdays. I love planning individual lessons to fit each child's learning style to emphasize their learning potential. Watching each student succeed at something that they used to struggle with is a wonderful blessing!
I have a bachelor's degree in English and my passion is British literature. I am a certificated teacher for grades 6-12, although I tutor elementary students as well. I truly enjoy working with those students who want to succeed but struggle for various reasons. I have a teenager who has spent his entire school career struggling with learning disabilities, so I have learned through working with him how to make material interesting and personal in order to facilitate long term memory and learning. I have done extensive research into various learning disabilities and strive to find the best way for an individual to learn. I believe that all students can become strong readers and writers through strategies and practice. I am a positive person who believes that everyone has the potential to succeed. I look forward to meeting your student and helping them reach their potential!

Best tutor ever! — My son absolutely loves Robin! He just told me that he has the "best tutor ever!" We have tried several tutors with him, and he never "clicked" with anyone before her. Not only does she help him with his work and studying, but she also teaches him strategies to tackle homework and studying on his own. He was just telling me the other day that he was stuck on his homework until he remembered a st ...
