Hello, my name is Austin, though friends call me by my middle name (Bodey). I've lived in Victorville my entire life until last September when I move to the San Francisco bay area to go to school at UC Santa Cruz. I chose Santa Cruz because they have an exceptional, award-winning Physics Department. I am about to complete my sophmore year, and am moving back home for the summer until the end of September.
I went to University Preparatory and maintained a 3.9 for all four years, so I can give some help in everything from Chemistry to Shakespeare at the high school level. Like my profile says, I am an Astrophysics major so I would be best suited to tutor math and science. I have about two years of experience tutoring math at my High School.
For math I can tutor any subject from prealgebra to multivariable calculus (2nd year college math), with the exception of statistics. Physics would be the ideal Science subject, I've maintained above a 3.5 in my college level, calculus-based Physics course.
I would also be able to help students with any writing they might have.
I have a love for learning regardless of the subject so as far as other subjects go, I am knowledgeable in Biology, music, history, literature, and anything else typically covered in high school.
For anyone interested in an amateur music instructor, I have played Guitar and Viola (extremely similar to the violin) for 8 years and have been a part of my university's nationally recognized orchestra. So I can also offer tutoring in learning the Guitar, viola, and violin.
I feel I have enough experience in this subject to tutor up to a high school Biology level. I recently completed a college level class on the human genome which went over topics ranging from Mendelian genetics, Genetic Disorders, DNA and RNA replication, Genetic Modification and other basic biology mechanics. I was near the top of the class with an A grade.
I have been playing guitar for over 7 years and am fluent in almost all genres of guitar. I received professional training from multiple tutors whom I have learned from. I have unofficially taught many the basics of playing guitar and reading music, helping them build the foundations they need to establish proficiency in the instrument. I can teach guitar from both a strict musical route (using staff notation and music theory) and the more common, pop/rock approach (using tabs and chord charts).
I have been playing viola for about 7 years now. 6 being in the local orchestra and this past year being in the UC Santa Cruz Orchestra. Viola is very similar to the violin so I would be able to teach anyone in the beginning to intermediate range violin and viola. I learned from my high school instructor certain methods of teaching people new instruments and styles. Some of which I later used when I established a jazz club and taught advanced players essential jazz techniques like improvisation.
Seriously Great Tutor! — Man this guy has helped me learn things literally in under 2 minutes that would usually take me hours of labor to even get! Life saver! In my busy schedule I have found that sometimes I just need to learn the subject without all the hours; He can explain the subject in a way you can understand! If you're looking for a great math tutor I WOULD recommend him! ...
