Hello! My name is Jared. I am a professional session guitarist, a band director, composer, author, event coordinator and a music teacher! I attended the University Of St. Louis for an undergrad in Music and I also did the AA program at Musicians Institute in Hollywood CA. I currently play in two bands for internet television shows and four other bands. I have also played in 10-15 bands since I started playing music.
I have taught privately in my home and at other music academy's for 6 years now. I'm currently publishing 2 music theory books in the month of February. So... That's a lot of info for you to see. I do a lot of work with music. It's my passion. Another true passion of mine is teaching! I have always loved teaching things, since I was young. It just comes easy to me and is fun! My ultimate teaching goal is to teach at a contemporary college and also publish many apps, dvd's, and books for the world to use. I also love teaching private lessons. That's why your reading this!
When it comes to my teachings, I'm all about being "practical" and efficient. I also make sure the student does a lot of "playing" music. That's what we call it right? "Playing" music and sound good doing it... Sometimes we forget that music is fun and it's not just about practicing scales all day. Play is in the name! So I will show the student the best ways that I know to get great technique and all the right info, so when we play the music we really sound great and have fun! That said I do want to work with people who really have a desire or passion to play. I will do my best to help the student grow as fast as they can. The student must know though, that they have just as much responsibility with that as I do. Even more. "I give you the road map", and you "drive the car". Know what I mean? I also start for the students dreams and vision! I always ask the student to imagine themselves playing the best they can imagine... Not what they think is possible, but to they could see themselves playing the greatest music they can think of. Then I ask what that music is? What styles... Who does something similar? I wan to know exactly what the student really wants to play deep down. Then! I start our joinery together from that. Not from what I think they should do, and force my thought on them. I will guide them the best I can to reach their true goals!
That should do it folks. I would love to help you grow and reach your goals in playing music. If your interested, get in contact with me through this site and lets chat about what you want to do. Have the best day of your life!
