Hello there! My name is Andrew, and I am a guitarist and film composer located in the Los Angeles area. I hold a Master's in Music for Scoring for Film, TV, and Video Games from Berklee College of Music, and a Bachelor of Music (Composition) degree from Columbia College Chicago. I have a passion for music, and enjoy relaying this passion to others! Throughout the years, I have developed a strong and wide ranged musical foundation that is a combination of rock, folk, jazz, classical, metal, and flamenco traditions. I have a strong foundation in music composition, theory and history. I am also a composer for visual media having done work for short films and video games--with this said, I am proficient with Protools, Logic and mixing and producing with such programs.

Ultimately, I want to spark a curiosity for music within my students! I'd love to help you reach your musical goals!

I am always seeking out new approaches in teaching and focus on presenting musical concepts in a clear and intuitive fashion. I understand that each student will have their own way of learning and ultimately their own perception of what music is.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Andrew’s subjects

Composition (Music)

I earned a Bachelor of Music Composition from Columbia College Chicago and just recently earned a Master's in Music for Scoring for Film, TV, and Video Games. I am an active composer for visual media. Being a composer for visual media demands that you are well-versed in a variety of different compositional styles, not just those of the classical tradition.

Ear Training

I took 3 years of ear training courses during my time at Columbia College Chicago and actively work on sharpening my ear training skills. I believe that developing a sharp ear will enable growing musicians to understand and communicate about what they are hearing; further immersing them into this sonic art form,

General Music

I have been playing guitar for 13 years and piano for 6. I earned a Bachelor's in Music from Columbia College Chicago and have recently acquired my Master's in Music for Scoring for Film, TV, and Video Games from Berklee College of Music.

I have been playing guitar for 13 years and have been teaching for 5. During my studies at Columbia College Chicago I took private guitar lessons for 4 years (rock, fusion, jazz, classical, flamenco).

Music History

I took a year of music history courses at Columbia College Chicago and study musicology as a hobby.

Music Theory

Along with personal study of music theory, I have taken 3 years of Music Theory classes during my time at Columbia College Chicago. I believe the knowledge of music theory is integral in becoming familiar with the language and ever-evolving syntax of music while also enabling you to learn about and analyze what musicians and composers have done before you.

During my 13 years of playing guitar I have been writing musical material; whether it be songs or instrumental compositions. During my years at Columbia College Chicago, I supplemented my knowledge of songwriting with my composition courses, theory courses, and jazz harmony courses. I am an active composer for visual media which ensures that I am writing songs weekly.
