Hi Everyone,

My name is Kelly and I have been teaching for 12 years. I have a multiple subject credential and a single subject credential in English. In addition, I have a reading specialist certificate. I have taught grades 1-12. I love teaching students and have experience tutoring as well. At my present job, I teach small groups of students and use engaging activities to make learning fun. If you walk into my classroom, you will hear music, see videos and see students laughing at me and my abundant energy. I believe in making learning tangible so I use different methods to access all types of learners. Lastly, I am extremely committed to each of my students reaching their goals and have extremely high passing rates on the California High School Exit Exam in English.

My name is Kelly and I have been teaching for over 12 years in grades K-12. I have a multiple subject credential, single subject credential in English, master's in child and adolescent literacy and a reading specialist certificate. I taught at the elementary level for five years and at the middle and high school level for seven years. I took the CAHSEE ELA passing rate from a 56% to a 92% in one year. I am qualified to teach Phonics all the way to College Writing.

Proofreading

I have over 12 years experience proofreading. I see mistakes all over the place, everyday. The mistakes do not anger me though. I have a record of increasing scores on the writing portions of tests and improving student writing.

Spelling

Recently I took a Spelling test to start a job at a reading intensive center. I did well on the test and was trained on the process. Often, friends and family ask me to spell words for them or edit their work. I use hands-on activities to teach Spelling and visualization techniques.

Elementary Math

I have been teaching for more than 12 years and have extensive experience in teaching math to grades 3-12. As an academic recovery teacher, I taught basic math all the way through algebra II. Before that, I taught third and fourth grade math for five years. I enjoy teaching math and make it exciting by using other media such as songs, manipulatives and tricks. I also used to hate math and now I love it.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have been teaching for more than 12 years and have extensive experience working at the elementary level as a third grade, fourth grade, K-5 reading teacher and lead teacher.

Phonics

I have been working for over 12 years as a teacher in grades K-12. I taught Reading to grades K-5 and have extensive experience teaching phonics.

Study Skills

I have over 12 years of teaching experience in grades K-12. I have worked with students to develop study skills in all grades. My approach is to determine the learning style of the student and then develop skills based on that criteria. For example, if a student is an auditory learning, reciting material works best or material to music. If a student is a visual learner, highlighting is a useful tool.
