Hello All,

My name is Jacob and I am one of the few out there who enjoys mathematics of any kind. I have also played in the school concert band for many years and now I am playing in an Orchestra. I played tennis on the high school team for 4 years. Because I am a very logical person math comes naturally to me as well as music.

Right now I am going to Sonoma State University working on my BA in Mathematics, hoping to one day become a high school teacher. I have tutored some of my friends and I have found to really enjoy it while getting the message across clearly. I like to tutor by teaching the meaning of the equation, not just, "Here's how to do it so do it." In other words, I will show the student not only what to do, but why and how to do it. I'm here to prove that math is not a magical mystery, and to show that there is a reasonable explanation behind all math procedures. This in turn will broaden the understanding of the student.

I look forward to assisting in the growth of anyone I can. I can teach ping-pong, tennis, trumpet, baritone, trombone, and most importantly Mathematics of any kind.

General Computer

I am a young person who knows how to use a computer well. I know how to use Microsoft word, email, and any online site. If you need general knowledge about using the computer or internet I can help.

General Music

I have played an instrument since I was 8 years old. I can read and teach general music reading in treble clef and bass clef. I know the what the markings on sheet music mean, as well as, all of the note names. I can teach the order of sharps and flats also.

Chess

From a very young age I have played chess. I know the basic movements, names, and placements of all the pieces.

Tennis

I have a passion for playing/ teaching tennis. I have played tennis for 4 years, two of them on high school varsity, and I am still going strong. If you are beginning or intermediate, I can assist you in developing your game.

Trumpet

I know the trumpet inside and out. I have played the trumpet since 5th grade. I have played in the school concert band, as well as, outside experiences, such as the bi-county honor band, youth symphony and now I play with the college orchestra. I have had many years of enjoyment playing an instrument and would like to share my enjoyment with others through this wonderful instrument.
