My passion for teaching comes from witnessing students to grow to their full potential by nurturing their academic capabilities through my teaching. As a tutor with a certificate as High school Math teacher in Massachusetts and a teaching assistant in graduate school, I have taught many students in Math (algebra, trigonometry, calculus, etc), Science (chemistry and biology), and advanced Engineering classes. Through my education and professional career, I have built an in-depth understanding of Math and Science, both in theory and in experiments. As a PhD in Chemical Engineering with five years of professional experiences, I have conducted multidisciplinary researches in chemistry, biology, materials science, and medicine.

As written above, my specialty lies in Math and Science for achievement in school and in SAT, ACT, GED, GRE, and GMAT.

I have a tutoring office in Chatsworth,CA, where I have individual or group tutoring sessions. Students may have an undisturbed and comfortable study space with me in my tutoring office. However, I am available to travel to other designated tutoring places, if students would prefer to.

I look forward to hearing from you and having a tutoring session with you or your children.

Babak's daughter is a high school senior with a bright future in the Engineering field, which would be her major in college. As she is taking AP Statistics, we worked together to understand the concept of calculating probability-based normal distribution and conditional probability in independent events. She understood right away. It was a pleasure to work with her.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I am a certified high school Math teacher in Massachusetts.

Algebra 2

I possess credentials such as an advanced degree in Engineering, PhD in Chemical Engineering, and a Certificate as a High school Math teacher in Massachusetts. I have helped many students in Algebra 2 including two students whom I am tutoring currently. I help students to develop concepts in functions including linear, quadratic, polynomial, exponential, and logarithmic ones, and how to match them as graphs.

Bible Studies

I have grown in church from my early age. I have regularly attended Sunday worship services. I have had factual Bible studies in church from Genesis to the gospels to the Epistles of Apostle Paul. I have led Bible studies in a group and individual session.

Calculus

As an Engineering major, I have taken Calculus and Engineering Math during Undergrad years. I have taken Advanced Engineering Math in Graduate school. Other Engineering courses that I have taken require in-depth Calculus skills. Earlier this year I acquired a preliminary teaching certificate in Math in Massachusetts. I have taught Calculus in private and group tutoring sessions.

Chemical Engineering

I have a BS/MS in Chemical Technology and a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. My education shows that I am qualified for tutoring Chemical Engineering.

Chemistry

I have a PhD in Chemical Engineering and took Chemistry, Organic/Physical/Biochem/electrochem classes and more. I also have experience in teaching a general chemistry lab course.

Differential Equations

I have PhD in Chemical Engineering and have taken Calculus for two semesters, Engineering Math for two semesters, and Advanced Engineering Math for one semester. These courses teach in-depth knowledge about differential equations. Other Engineering subjects that I have taken also use differential equations for problem solving. My education background shows that I am qualified for tutoring differential equations.

Korean

I am a native Korean. I have credentials such as a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in a distinguished research University in Korea (Seoul National University), and a teaching experience for one year in a Korean school in Lexington, MA (Saint John's Korean School). The Korean class I taught was composed of 5 middle school students, whom I had lectures of three hours per week about Korean language and culture.

Linear Algebra

I have PhD in Chemical Engineering, having taken Calculus, Engineering Math, and Advanced Engineering Math. I have a preliminary teacher certificate in High School Math in Massachusetts. My education and certificate mentioned above show that I am qualified for this subject.

Microbiology

I majored in Biochemical Engineering in my master program and used a yeast system to produce fuel ethanol. I went on to a research institute to do research on a recombinant E. coli system for a mass production of a protein of target. I have received a rigorous training in microbiology and biochemical Engineering through taking coursework in college and graduate school.

Organic Chemistry

I have PhD in Chemical Engineering. I have taken Organic Chemistry for two semesters, and Advanced Organic Chemistry for one semester. I have had 5 years of researches in hospital and start-up setting. My researches have multidisciplinary character including Organic Chemistry. My education and research background show that I am qualified for tutoring Organic Chemistry.

Physics

Physics is fun! Physics and math are closely related. As an example, calculus dictates the connection among distance, velocity, and acceleration as functions, and physics gives the meaning of the functions in our real lives. As an Engineering major, I have developed understanding of the physical concepts from fundamentals to applications. I have a strong basis in math and a high school math teacher's certificate so that I can help students in figuring out the relationship between math and physics.

Precalculus

I am a certified High School Math teacher (preliminary) in Massachusetts; earned a full score in Math (800/800) in GRE; took Calculus, Engineering Math, Advanced Engineering Math in college and graduate school; and am a teaching assistant for advanced Engineering classes.
