I graduated from UCLA with a degree in Economics, with an emphasis in accounting and have been a CPA since 1975. I have been an accounting instructor at UCLA Extension, Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) and Golden Oak Adult School. I regularly speak on accounting and other business topics to college students and business owners.
I am not just another "bean counter". After graduating from UCLA, I worked for the then "Big 8" accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand. I left public accounting after nearly 4 years and then worked in private industry as a Controller and CFO for 15 years for firms with annual sales ranging from $5 million to $300 million, including 2 years as Controller of Baskin-Robbins.
From 1990 to 2006, I owned and operated an arts and crafts distribution business which grew from $400,000 in annual sales to $12 million in annual sales with customers in 12 Western states and international sales around the world. I am also a partner in an import business of proprietary licensed etched glass product featuring images of NASCAR and NHRA drivers and cars, John Wayne, Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, college logos, etc.
I currently provide CFO services to small and mid-size companies in a variety of industries and also am a Business Advisor at the Small Business Development Center located at College of the Canyons in Valencia.
