Hello families!
I want your child to enhance his/her skills and enjoy the love of learning!
I am a friendly, kind, and patient tutor who wants your child to excel in their academics!
My mission for your child is to be a motivated, competent, life long learner, and to be proficient in Language Arts and Mathematics. I believe that once a child receives all the foundational skills at the elementary level, that child should be able to pursue and succeed in middle school and high school. I know I can ensure that your child reaches his/her goals by continuous subject preparation and guided practice of each subject. I believe the values of positive reinforcement and encouragement play a huge part in the learning experience.
I have 7 years of teaching experience and 10 years total of working with students inside and outside the classroom. Right now I am a 4th grade teacher at Petaluma City Schools. In addition, I have taught in Southern California for 4 years. The students I teach are of a variety of race and backgrounds. I also teach English Language Learners as well. I take great pride and satisfaction when my students are able to understand Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science.
My Education:
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Cinema Television and Arts at Cal State Northridge.
I received my Teaching Credential and my Masters in Education at Cal Poly University Pomona.
My tutoring methods are simple. Find where your child is struggling and improve on that skill. I know that fully comprehending stories and understanding math is so important in a child's life. I just want to be a part of your child's journey to succeed.
I have vast knowledge of elementary mathematics.
These concepts are:
Place Value, Comparing Numbers (great than/less than), Multiplication Facts, Multiplying with 1 and 2 Digit Numbers, Variables and Expressions, Division Facts, Dividing with 1 Digit Numbers, Shapes and Angles, Simplifying Fractions, Ordering and Comparing Fractions, Adding and Subtracting Fractions, Decimals, Measurement, Perimeter, Area, Mean, Median, Mode, and Range, Understanding Coordinates on a Grid, Graphing Equations on a Grid, and Probability.
In addition, I can help with Problem Solving Questions.
