A graphic design professional with three degrees in digital media, art communication, liberal arts, along with 3D modeling-animation training. I have a passion to create story telling visuals, I like the process of design, and enjoy teaching others what I've learned over the years. My strengths are in asset creation, design presentation, and software training.
Asset Creation: Digital assets are the bread and butter of graphic design. Breathing life into Photoshop and Illustrator is valuable in asset creation. It sets the designer apart from the design crowd and lets the viewer know you care about the work you deem acceptable. Another facet of asset creation is knowing when to use vector or bitmap, sometimes it’s a combination of both. I teach in depth about the differences between vector (Illustrator) and bitmap (Photoshop) and how to benefit from each.
Design Presentation: The difference between a design hobbyist and design professional is presentation. Presentation in any media is vital in capturing your audience. This skill will distinguish you from others, build upon your ability to stylize a project and provide consistent visual cues for your audience to follow. I enjoy teaching how a project is enhanced through composition, textures, lighting, and layout options while always mindful of the target audience. Design is a tactical, thought out procedure blending text with assets in harmony. It is a learned process and will enhance any project.
Software Knowledge: I've been using Adobe software for over 10 years and my skill set vastly increased in college by teacher-student dynamics where I could get instant feedback from instructors who really knew the software. I use the software daily at work and my free time, it keeps me sharp, updated, and quick to produce. Illustrator is my favorite Adobe product and I’m happy to share all I have learned throughout my professional experiences to de-mystify this program and teach how Adobe thinks about vector paths, blends, and so much more. I use Photoshop every day to select, separate, texture, composite images and enjoy sharing my how-to approach. InDesign is king of digital publishing. Whether a project is one-sided or an eighty page layout, I show all about master pages, table of content creation, interactive PDF creation, layout options, project organization and everything else one needs to be successful with this program from the start.
I believe in a balance of encouragement and knowledge in a hands-on working environment. I explain the tools to get from practice to production. I explain what questions a designer should ask to make design life run smoother. My goals are to teach how adobe thinks to develop the problem solving skills needed for success, eliminate user frustration, increasing efficiency, understanding, productivity, and empower user confidence with these programs. I currently create detailed presentations on a daily basis in commercial/industrial real estate and 3D environment visuals. I’m comfortable tutoring one-on-one or group settings, at the professional work place, a local meet up or at the home.
