I am a professional music teacher. I have taught at many music stores in the area. When students learn something new, it is always a great thing for them and for me as their teacher. I have expanded my tutoring into many other subjects such as history, science, language arts and math. I believe learning can be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

My tutoring methods are tailor made for each individual student. Some students need step by step explanation from the beginning and some need time to process information. It depends a great deal on each learner. Their are several learning styles and I try to both teach in the student's learning style as well as explain things two or three different ways. This helps students get a new perspective and may open their eyes to new ideas.

In college I studied Music, Philosophy, Math, Science, Writing, Geography, History and Religion. In 2005 I was privileged to get married to Mary. We have two boys who are three and two years old. They drive us crazy and we Love them very much. I am already teaching them music. I would love to share my love of learning with you and your children.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Composition (Music)

I have over 20 years of music composition expierence. I write my own music for guitar, piano and voice. I can help you write for solo or band. I can help you understand complex manuscripts from classical to jazz to rock. I am fully qualified to help you with your musical questions.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am able to tutor students in K-8 grade math. I have passed college algebra classes and am proficient in all fundament math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, some algebra, geometry and more.

GED

Tests are not easy but there are some ways to study for the GED that can help you test better. Let me show you how to pass your GED.

Guitar

Learning guitar is a life long joy for me. I have played guitar for over twenty years. For seven years I have taught music at Charter schools, private music schools and music stores. I believe learning should be fun and rewarding. When my students do the work at home, they get better. Making music is an amazing gift that we enjoy solo or with friends. I love teaching music in any situation. I have taught in my home and students' homes. In addition, I have taught small classes and church worship bands.

Piano

I have over 20 years of experience playing the piano. I teach piano with chords and notes and in the style you want to learn. If we do music you like you will learn better. I focus on playing music, not theory. As we play songs, we learn how music works. I teach all ages, from 4-90. Music is something that is fun, hard work and easily shared. I hope you will start your piano learning with me.
