My name is Lois. I have been Deaf since birth but I speak and read lips very well. I do best in one to one communication. I am offering to tutor any one who would like to learn or to relearn American Sign Language
I have been a teacher for the Deaf for 46 years, starting in the year of 1959. I taught in the elementary and middle school departments in Maine for 17 years before moving back to California. Then for 29 years, I was a teacher at the California School for the Deaf in Fremont, first 20 years with high school Deaf students with special needs, then 9 years as an English teacher with the high school Deaf students with no special needs.
In the year of 2011, I taught American Sign Language at Delta College at Mountain House campus (in Tracy). Then this year I have been a full time American Sign Language at a Christian High School and will finish in June.
Teaching has always been my passion and I do enjoy working with people, both adults and kids very much. It is so exciting to see others learn ASL.
Get in touch with me and you will find me very outgoing and caring.

I have a Master's degree, plus 45 units in Education.

Lois is patient, clear, and explains signs well. She is very generous with her time and stays until the work is done. We have gotten to know Lois very well as she is very open and sharing of her life as a deaf person. Our daughter is not only learning ASL, but a ...
