My name is Caili. I am so happy to have the opportunity to help you achieve your communication goals in the Chinese language. I've been teaching for 28 years... it's in my blood. I have fun with it and I try hard (with good success) to let my students experience the fun from the "learning" perspective.
I began my education and training in Harbin, China. I graduated the Harbin Institute of Physical Education in Sports Sociology and went on to teach the discipline at graduated levels for several years. During this time I enjoyed Tai Chi in all its aspects, including its calming elements which I believe aids the learning process (I like to include a few exercises in my teaching sessions). I later traveled to South Korea for my post graduate studies. I earned my Master's Degree and then my Doctorate Degree from Dankook University. I published several articles within the Dankook University system in the Sports Sociology field and did so in a language that was not mine. Being immersed in a new language gave me a unique perspective on how language should be learned and how it should be taught (I speak fluent Korean). I incorporate these perspectives in my teaching methods and style.
While in South Korea, I began to expand my teaching horizons and chose the Chinese language as my career and my mission. I studied and taught Mandarin Chinese in formal classroom settings, in Corporate meeting rooms, and in living rooms and kitchens for all ages, levels, and purposes. I am experienced in understanding the students' needs, requirements, and goals and tailoring the learning program to achieve success.
I had the opportunity to coach Korean Tai Chi instructors on proper Tai Chi technique while in Korea. This gave me a case study in the importance of mental preparation to undergo an important task and how different personalities approach or even accept the concept. Differences...we have to accept it but prepare for it. Everyone can be successful, we just have to prepare them for it.
I came to America in 2009 where I spent almost 1 year as a guest professor at Northern Iowa University (another language immersion (smile)) and studied English. I've taught Chinese and studied English to date. My English is not the best, but good enough. (smile)
It has been very nice introducing myself to you. If you would like to talk to me about how I can help you achieve your Mandarin Chinese goals, please do not hesitate to contact me through WyzAnt. I am available for all types of Chinese assistance...learning the language for fluency, functional language for a quick trip, homework, review for tests, or we can discuss your specific Chinese language requirement. Thank you.
