Hello fellow aspiring students!
My name is Lauren. I am graduate from California State University, Domínguez Hills, with a degree in Psychology and Spanish Linguistics. Starting in the Fall '13, I will be entering the Single-Subject Teaching Credential Program for Spanish. Once I am finished with my credentials, I am planning on earning my PhD in linguistics and bilingualism.
I have done very well in all my Spanish coursework, even though I am not a native speaker. Being a non-native speaker has its great advantages in composition and creates a different outlook on language learning. To help myself learn Spanish, I have created different methodologies that I can apply in my tutoring sessions. I completely understand the importance of second-language learning and have been creating my own tools and activities for my future classrooms. I have even tutored native Spanish speakers for their college coursework so they have a better understanding of the material.
For Psychology, I can help with projects, understanding basic theories, and helping with chapter assessments (quizzes), if needed.
I am a fun person that loves to help people learn. Teaching is my calling because I am passionate, understanding, and persistent; I believe a combination of the preceding ideas creates a positive, effective environment.
Thank you!
Lauren
