I am a highly competent Educator with over 20 years of experience in Elementary Education as a Classroom Teacher, Reading Specialist, and Intervention Specialist. I have thorough knowledge and understanding of all components of Reading and the Reading Process, testing and evaluation, and appropriate placement, methodology, and materials. I am goal oriented and I get excellent results. I am certified by the State of California to teach English Language Arts. Grammar is a major component of English Language Arts, and I have over 20 years of experience in teaching it to students of various ages.

Reading

Highly skilled in all components of teaching Reading and Language Arts. Experience of over 20 years as Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade classroom teacher, and as a Reading Specialist and a Reading Intervention Teacher.

Spanish

I am a native Spanish speaker with excellent written and verbal skills in both English and Spanish. I have over 20 years' experience teaching Spanish to students of all ages, including adults. I have experience with translations in both informal and formal settings, and I have written and designed educational presentations for parents and community members in Spanish on Child Development, Language Acquisition, and Reading.

English

I have taught English-speaking skills to students of different ages from Kindergarten to adult.

ESL/ESOL

I have a credential from the State of California to teach ESL to students whose native language is not English. I have had much experience (over 20 years) with great success in teaching children and adults to speak English, and learn the other components of the language, such as reading and writing.

Proofreading

As a favor to my friends and classmates, I started proofreading their class reports during my undergraduate years. This turned into a "side job" and I soon began proofreading masters theses. In the last ten years, I have also been called upon to proofread some doctoral dissertations.

I can help English or Spanish speakers study for and pass the GED.
