Hello parents and students:
I am a MBA graduate from Rutgers Business School, New Jersey. I am currently staying in Thousand Oaks, CA. I am a mechanical engineer as an undergraduate. To prepare for my MBA studies, I have taken a lot of competitive exams, including the GMAT. In India, I took about 4-5 exams, including the CAT, which is considered to be the toughest exam to get into a MBA course and my quantitative section percentile have always been above 90 in all the exams. In GMAT, I got 92% in quantitative section and so I believe I have strong mathematical skills. I believe the best way to grasp mathematical skills is to learn the fundamentals thoroughly first rather than jumping into complex problems directly. If the basic understanding of the fundamental concepts are clear then even the complex problems are a cup of cake. Whenever I used to teach some of my siblings, I made a point to make them clear about the basics of the formulas.
I am a mechanical engineer as an undergraduate and am now doing my MBA in supply chain management. I have given CAT exam in India (the toughest exam to get into MBA) and have scored 94 percentile in that. I have given GMAT and have score 92% in the math section. These exams have much more complex algebra to solve and my knowledge of linear algebra is quite proficient considering I score well in exams. I always try to learn the basics of algebra first and then the complexities are just a cup of tea. When teaching my siblings, I kept this thing in mind to make their fundamentals clear first.
