I have been teaching High School & College Level Spanish for more than 30 years and recently retired to take care of my three grandchildren. I missed teaching Spanish so much that I began to tutor locally and find myself working seven days a week.
I've worked in both private and public schools; at The Berlitz School of Languages and at The Mirman School as Chair of the Dept., and was also the Southern California Coordinator for The National Spanish Exams. I am a non-native Spanish speaker and learned Spanish the way your child is learning Spanish. I believe it to be an advantage since I understand the problems they are experiencing and make sure that your child doesn't lose points on their next quiz making the same mistakes I once made.
I can help with homework preparation, quiz and exam prep, and oral and written assignments. Explanations are clear and comparisons to English make grammar concepts more understandable. My students excel and look forward to their tutoring sessions as much as I do.
Recent language studies tell us that students need to feel at ease and good about themselves in order to learn a second language. Breaking concepts into smaller, more manageable ones allows my students to experience success at every turn and build their confidence. I like to incorporate all kinds of games, study skill techniques, and fun computer sites so that students can practice their developing skills even when I am not there.
I look forward to meeting you and working with your child. You can look forward to a happier, more confident child, and higher grades in Spanish class from the very first lesson!
