My students improve their writing confidence and raise their test scores. This statement is backed up by my many years of education and experience. For more than two decades, I’ve honed my skills as a professional writer, editor, and English tutor in the US and overseas.
My lessons are student-centered, and each daily lesson is connected to a larger plan. I'm always anticipating, preparing each student for English success in the next school year, on the SAT, in college, and beyond!
Over the past decade, I've developed, tested, and fine-tuned my own expert standardized test strategies. Primarily, these have helped hundreds of San Gabriel Valley area students raise their SAT scores by several hundred points. I also help many students with other standardized tests like ACT, ISEE, SSAT, TOEFL, and CBEST.
If you need to raise your English scores, I will help you do it without judging your past efforts. As we begin, I will assess what you know and articulate a personalized plan to help you think more critically and strategically.
I do not teach "test tricks" or "how to improve your multiple choice guesses." Instead, you will learn the necessary knowledge and skills in their simplicity, building on what you already know. This will help you permanently grasp and effectively use the information.
About my students:
Over the years, I have assisted students from a broad range of ages, nationalities, and academic disciplines. Though most of my students range between 6th and 11th grade, I’ve taught children as young as five years old, seniors in their seventies, and professionals at every age in between. They have been from China, Hong Kong, Russia, Korea, Japan, Iran, Mexico, Brazil, Lebanon, France, and the United States. My students have been accepted into top universities like Princeton, Dartmouth, USC, UCLA, and UC Berkeley. Several of my students have earned distinctions like graduate degrees and passing the bar exam. They have been accepted into medicals schools as well as internships with excellent engineering companies, law offices, and major businesses.
