I graduated from University of California Riverside with the degree of Bachelor of Science in math. I am a credentialed math teacher. I did my teaching internship at Eagle Rock High School and taught Algebra Two, Geometry and Honor Pre-Calculus.

I am a math teacher at Premier Academy and a full-time private tutor as well. I have tutored many students in math over six years in Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Geometry, and Algebra Two. The passion motivates me to help students in multiple approaches according to their individual talent. Different needs of students inspire me to develop various teaching strategies. A good teacher should possess concrete content knowledge, abilities to evaluate individual performance, and good communication skills in order to help students reach their maximal learning potential.

Through teaching various students in different subjects I realize that students need more enhancement in conceptual clarification to build up a solid foundation. I don't only guide students through their questions in current subjects but I also provide students with additional practice addressing blind spots in their conceptual understandings.

Now I work at a test-prep institution as a math teacher in SAT I math, Algebra Two, and Geometry. I design curriculum, prepare daily lesson plans, and evaluate students' performance in various ways.

Algebra 1

Algebra is the subject which requires conceptual and procedural proficiency. I analyze students' difficulties and clarified misconceptions. Then I provided corresponding practice as enhancement for procedural proficiency of students.

Calculus

Calculus is quite challenging and unusual for most of students. Students need to be very strong in Algebra and Trigonometry. Calculus has many theorems and definitions that students doesn't only memorize but also need to understand and how to utilize for corresponding applications. Many students I tutored have experienced in having misconceptions. I focus on students' blind spots and explain how the concepts are applied with my own know-how.

Geometry

Geometry does not require a volume of calculation as Algebra. Students would need the skill of conceptual reasoning and organization to get through it.

Physics

The key to achieve a good grade in Physics is knowing how to apply theorems to word problems. I help students convert words in questions into calculation. I teach students how to collect clues and develop logical deduction.

Precalculus

Pre-Calculus is quite challenging and unusual for most of students. Students need to be very strong in Algebra and Trigonometry. Pre-Calculus has many theorems and definitions that students doesn't only memorize but also need to understand and how to utilize for corresponding applications. Trigonometry

Students often need to use graph to understand the concepts in Trigonometry. I don't encourage students to merely learn characteristics of Trig functions by rote. I help students relate Trig functions to the corresponding graphs and explain how each Trig functions make changes in graphs.

SAT Math

SAT math covers concepts which students have learned in Algebra One, Geometry, and Algebra Two before. The first step for students is to review the concepts categorized by different topics such as arithmetic/geometric concepts, word problem, function, exponent, and probability.
