My name is Inger. I have my BA in History from California State University, Fullerton. While there, I was inducted into the International Historical Society. My formal teaching experience began in college when I taught a study class for Western Civilization. After graduation I taught in National City, California half day as an Impact Teacher for 5th grade focusing on English Language Development. Then I taught two years as a third grade teacher. I left teaching to start a family. While home I homeschooled preschool for my two children as well as three others for 3 years. In addition to having my own classroom time, I also spent the interim years as a substitute teacher and an extended education teacher for first and second grade.
Since I have been in the California educational system I am familiar and have taught the 6 Traits of Writing as well as developed a system I find successful in developing creative writing and English skills in students of all ages. Though I am confident and competent to tutor in various academics, I feel my forte is in the English and Social Studies/humanities fields.
My style of teaching is multi-sensory which engages the 9 ways of learning creating an efficient and successful learning experience for the student. I believe in short and long term goals and teaching students to take ownership of their education. My foundation is based on the idea of setting students up for success and instilling a love of learning that becomes an intrinsic drive for success that carries them through life.
