ABOUT ME:
Hello, my name is Gracelin, or Gracie, and I am 22 years old.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, which is the 3rd top undergraduate engineering school in the nation.
I graduated in the top 3% of my high school class with a 4.1 GPA, and I have experience tutoring math, my specialty, in high school that I did for pay, as well as, community service. In high school, I completed pre calculus, calculus AB, calculus BC, calculus D, and linear algebra.
I don't consider myself smart. I just consider myself a hard worker. I know the thought process to help people understand because I've been through it. Nothing ever really clicks for me, and I think that's why some people who are so "smart" can't convey information well. I know how to really break it down because I've been there.
MY GOALS:
When I tutor, I aim to make sure I am making someone's brain think, rather than just feeding them the answers. It is much easier to remember knowledge when earning your way to it, rather than just being given it. Therefore, I would rather show someone how to get the answer rather than give them the answer. I want to make people understand concepts and problem solving skills, rather than just memorizing it. My goal is to broaden a student's knowledge, not just for one particular subject, but for hopefully future related subjects as well; I hope that they will be able to recycle problem solving and thinking strategies that I will show them. Also, through experience in high school and college, I have discovered the best and most efficient ways of studying.
Learning has never been very easy for me; it has actually been a lot of hard work. I am not the fastest learner either. Therefore, I have obtained many approaches to really break down the problems for students.
OUTSIDE OF ACADEMICS:
I have worked with professional singer/songwriter Stacey Dove Daniels in both song writing and singing. I have been song writing for over 10 years, and it's become very natural to me.
