I have a B.S. in Information Systems Management and an MBA from Santa Clara University. I worked as a software programmer for over ten years before taking a few years off to raise my children. Although I enjoyed working in the software industry, my passion has always been teaching. I went back to school three years ago and obtained my single subject teaching credential in math from National University.
For the past five years I have been tutoring students in math from elementary school all the way to high school. My areas of expertise are Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus. For the past year, I have also been working at a tutoring center helping high school juniors and seniors in preparing for SAT math. I also have extensive experience working with children with various learning disabilities such as ADD and autism.
Having worked as both a substitute teacher and math tutor with students of various backgrounds and learning abilities, I have developed an array of different techniques to reach out and tap into students’ capabilities and desires. I encourage creative approaches to problem solving rather than simply applying formulas.
