I just wanted to let you know how excited I am to be able to come and help your child reach his or her full potential. With over 10 years of experience working with people on the spectrum I have just about see it all, but what really "floats my boat" is seeing how the many hours of instruction, behavior treatment, and play-time pay-off as the student reacts in ways you've never seen before.
My first few years of service I was mainly an Instructional aid working in a classroom with several other aids and students. It was probably the best experience anyone could have working in our field and has taught me to be more patient and tolerant with our guys. While working as an aid I used the TEACCH method and the PECs icon system which I found really helps students learn and communicate and have seen major improvements.
In my latter year of instruction and tutoring I spent my time as an ABA Therapist, a big shift in philosophy as opposed to working in the classroom. But one to one therapy I found to be more educational, from an instructors point of view, because you do get that one-on-one time and are able to focus more on the specific issues the student is having problems with and using DTT and PRT methods are really great at targeting the goals the student needs to work on. Please feel free to contact me in regards to tutoring your student. Thank you.
