I have experience teaching oral skills and tutoring in reading, writing, and study skills, and enjoy supporting people in reaching their goals.
I am currently an instructor at San Francisco State's American Language Institute. Previously, while pursuing my graduate studies in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Language (TESOL) at San Francisco State University, I tutored at SFSU’s Learning Assistance Center, working with native and multilingual students enrolled in primarily grammar and composition courses, and participated in weekly training workshops for English composition and grammar tutors. I also served as a teaching assistant in a beginning composition class.
I have also been a Conversation Group Leader for the American Language Institute (ALI) at SFSU, meeting weekly with four students for informal English conversation, and volunteered as a classroom assistant and tutor at Sequoia Adult School in Redwood City in ESL classroom.
My tutoring sessions are lively and include elements of speaking, writing, listening and reading, as appropriate for each student.
