For the past three years I have been very successfully working with WyzAnt students aged 5 to adult. I'm an experienced and well-qualified tutor, having more than 1250 hours of WyzAnt teaching. I meet students weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. I offer an introductory meeting at no charge to determine your needs and my suitability.
I have a great deal of experience helping children and adults learn to better express themselves both in writing and speaking. I believe strongly that the successful use of the English language depends on learning to read and write in an organized and intelligent way. The real aim of language use is to communicate well.
I have two degrees from San Jose State and two from Stanford University. I think I’ve been able to help people learn because of my own experience learning English as a second language years ago as an immigrant. I’m fluent in English and German, have a PhD from Stanford, and have raised 4 children in local schools, taught briefly at Stanford, and in the last few years successfully tutored kids and adults.
My qualifications also include tutoring students in history, based on a recent PhD in History from Stanford University; this includes TA experience while pursuing my degree, plus teaching a Humanities course at Stanford following graduation.
Apart from my University teaching experience and, of course, teaching our four children, all of whom went on to graduate from college and/or graduate school, I am currently working as a senior analyst at a high-tech market research firm with a very flexible schedule. Teaching is an integral part of my life, not a principle occupation.
I live in Sunnyvale with my husband and our dog.
