For the past five years I have been very successfully working with WyzAnt students aged 5 to adult. I'm an experienced and well-qualified tutor, having more than 3000 hours of WyzAnt teaching alone. I meet students weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. I offer an introductory meeting at no charge to determine your needs, and my suitability.
I have a great deal of experience helping children and adults learn to better express themselves, both in writing
and speaking. I believe strongly that the successful use of the English language
depends on learning to read and write in an organized and intelligent way; the real aim of language use is to be able to communicate well in both.
I have two degrees from San Jose State and two from Stanford University. I think I’ve been able to help people learn English and perfect their language skills because of my own experience learning English as a second language
, years ago, as an immigrant. I’m fluent in English and German
, spent my younger years raising four children in local schools, pursued my own education thereafter, culminating in a PhD in History
from Stanford(1998), subsequently worked as a market research analyst, and in the last few years, successfully, tutored both children and adults.
My qualifications also include tutoring students in history based on a long-time interest in the subject, as well as on my degrees in History; this includes TA experience while working on my degree at Stanford, plus teaching a Humanities course there, following graduation.
Apart from my university teaching experience and, of course, teaching our four children, all of whom went on to graduate from college and/or graduate school, I am now devoting my daily life full-time to tutoring and teaching, having retired from my activity as market research analyst.
I live in Sunnyvale with my husband and our dog.
For your Information: I teach only at my home, rather than traveling to yours, because here I have a great variety of teaching materials that I utilize whenever it is essential in the course of the lesson to reinforce a gap in my students' education and general knowledge.
