Hi, my name is Irene and I am a recent graduate of Pepperdine University. I have Bachelors of Arts in Applied Music and Psychology. Pepperdine, being a liberal arts college, has required me to take classes in a variety of fields of studies. I have worked in preschools to develop literacy skills in low-income schools. Other teaching/tutoring experiences have been in elementary schools especially from third to fifth grade.
I am also passionate about music. I love to teach flute and talk about music, especially music history. At one of the schools I volunteered at, I coached and played with the fifth grade flute players.
My teaching style is to let the student struggle with the problem in front of me so I can assess his or her weakness. Then I look at what they are struggling with and then I guide their thought towards the right answer. Then I find or create another problem to do on their own and then I teach them how to solve or answer the question. In addition to this, I give the student helpful tips in general on how to find answers and such.
