I have an extensive educational background in health, science, psychology and fitness. I have been trained in applied behavior analysis, discrete trial training, PECS And RDI with an emphasis on taking a whole child approach. I am very compassionate, patient, energetic, and can make learning fun and rewarding. As a behavior therapist for 10 years, I have gained a wealth of experience teaching students with ADD/ADHD diagnoses. As a tutor, I emphasize several techniques to help students improve.
These techniques include- establishing routines, simplifying schedules, using clocks and timers to methodically build attention "muscles", and avoiding environmental distraction. Particularly when working with children, I find patience, praise, and positive reinforcement to be highly effective tools. I also can work with parents to request accommodations from schools, based on their child's ADD/ADHD identification.
