All of Sarah’s current tutoring subjects are listed at the left. You can read more about Sarah’s qualifications in specific subjects below.

ADD/ADHD

I have a lot of experience tutoring children with ADHD. I am patient and flexible and incorporate a lot of motor skills into my lessons so the student can focus better on learning. I work with the student and plan an individualized lesson plan according to his needs.

Autism

I have worked with several students on the autistic spectrum, ages 5-15. I believe in creating an individualized plan for each student depending on their needs and learning styles. I am patient and flexible, and I create fun and interactive lessons to help the students reach their goals

Elementary (K-6th)

I am an experienced tutor and I have a masters in special education. I worked with special education students as well as mainstream students on a 1:1 basis as well as in a group setting. Most of the students I worked with are between the ages of 5-15. I believe in creating an individualized plan for each student based on their strengths and learning styles. I am flexible and patient, and work with the student and parents to help the student reach their goals

Hebrew

I have a master's degree in special education and experience teaching children conversational Hebrew as well as how to read, write, and speak Hebrew. I work at each student's pace to help them achieve their goal. I am patient, warm, and flexible.

Phonics

I have experience in teaching phonics to preschool students in a class setting, as well as on a one on one basis. I use many visual cues, and I can incorporate other learning styles if needed. I use fun and interactive lessons so the student enjoys learning to read.

Special Needs

I worked with special education children in an inclusion class of 20 students. The main goal was to provide the special education children with the skills they need in order to eventually mainstream them into a general education class.
• Sessions were all provided in the classroom on a 1:1 basis or in a group setting, involving the special education as well as the mainstream students. Sessions were conducted with each student on a daily basis.
• Responsibilities included administering formal and informal assessments, observations, creating individualized curriculums and lesson plans, setting long term and short term goals and objectives, modifying pre-planned lessons to meet their goals, monitoring and charting each student’s progress, parent and therapist communication, and writing progress reports.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
