Hello, knowledge seekers! My name is Juli, and I am ready and eager to be your guide in this portion of your quest for academic and intellectual self-actualization! I have a BA in communication/media studies from the College of Charleston, and I recently received my Master's degree in Secondary Education English Curriculum & Instruction from George Mason University. I have maintained at least a 3.5 GPA throughout my post-secondary education. Additionally, a little over a year ago, when I lived in Northern Virginia, I got passing scores on both the Praxis I and Praxis II English knowledge/skills exams as well as the Virginia Communications & Literacy Assessment (VCLA).
Through my graduate studies, I have gained experience working with students in various grade levels throughout middle and high school, as well as familiarity with the most current theories of learning and teaching promoted in teacher education programs today. Among these are differentiated instruction for diverse learners as well as the constructivist view of knowledge acquisition, both of which I believe are integral for authentic learning experiences. Therefore, I am fully prepared to tailor lessons to individual students' learning styles and interests so as to help them achieve a deeper understanding in any subject in which they may be struggling.
If you're looking for someone who can help you develop your writing, reading, and/or language arts skills by making these subjects interesting for you, then you've come to the right place. I'm all about individualized instruction that reaches a student where he/she lives by making use of his/her interests and experience. And I very much look forward to putting my knowledge and experience to work for you!
