Math wasn't so easy for me in high school. I had a really good tutor who had multiple approaches for different people who learned or thought differently or uniquely. My view point changed then, I feel, if I can't get the concept across to another, then it's me who needs to think of a better way to help another understand! I have a bachelor's degree in math/science and have worked in the business and computer sector, and most recently at a local school tutoring math.
I've also mentored students who just graduated from school in the computer industry. So, I have a lot of patience in helping to get a point across to another. I often think and learn differently than others, so my expectations are that anyone can understand so long as different approaches are tried for different students. I've also tutored younger students in both math and English, and many have even surpassed my expectations once they understood the concepts.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I'm qualified to tutor algebra 1 because I've tutored both algebra 1 and algebra 2 before. I've also been tutoring a higher math, statistics currently, with WyzAnt. I also have a bachelors degree in mathematical science from University of California Santa Barbara.

Algebra 2

I have a degree in mathematical sciences and was a tutor for Algebra I and Algebra 2 for high school students. I like math, and was tutored in math also when I was in school. So, I have an understanding of how to present a topic in a few different ways. Math is one of those subjects where there is usually different ways of explaining it, as there are different ways in understanding.

Elementary Math

I feel really comfortable tutoring elementary math. I have a degree in mathematical sciences and was a paraprofessional for the middle schools helping the students who were needing extra help to keep pace with their class. I was a paraprofessional for both reading and math, but prefer tutoring math since that's my field of study. I've tutored all ages from second grade to twelfth grade.

GED

I've tutored math and reading in the past. I've also taken tests such as the GMAT, so I'm familiar with the test preparation and the variety of questions and subjects that arise, rather than just concentrating on one subject. I have a bachelor's degree in math, so I prefer tutoring that area in particular. But I feel comfortable with the topics in the GED because they don't get so in depth, as only focusing on a particular subject requires. That also makes it a little easier to understand and explain.

Linear Algebra

I'm qualified to tutor in algebra because I've successfully tutored it before. I also have a bachelor's degree in mathematics!

Prealgebra

I've tutored math in the k-12 school system as a paraprofessional, and I have a degree in mathematics. I was also tutored when I was in school so I understand what it is to need some additional time and explanation with math. Also, I know that just a little more of comprehension in something can achieve that higher grade.

Probability

I have a degree in math, and have used probability when coding software for weather satellites. I feel comfortable with the subject, and have been a tutor in math before. Probability is more about knowing what formulas to use, so it can also be an easier subject for some.

SAT Math

I'm currently tutoring math and I have a degree in mathematical sciences. Also, I recently studied for the GMAT and that included a math portion, so I'm familiar with the scholastic test. I also took the SAT prior to getting into college.

SQL

I've worked on many databases and software applications using SQL. Queries are quite powerful in organizing data when using SQL. I've worked with SQL for quite some time now, and it gets quicker once you start using it in practical applications. I've written many processes using SQL in the workforce. It's quite a powerful tool and many applications can use this tool so it is something worthwhile to learn, especially for anyone wanting to be in a technical environment, or wanting to understand how data is gathered and retrieved. I've also mentored many co-workers in SQL.

Statistics

Statistics are interesting. I have been in a technical environment utilizing statistics for many years. Whether we know it or not, statistics are always used in the workforce. Today because of all the information gathering, statistics are going to be even more widely used and probably much more in depth (mathematically). I have a bachelors in math, and I'm already familiar from work and college with gathering data and analyzing that information and producing statistics using statistical methods. In college, statistics was one of my favorite math classes!

(2z-2)(z+3)=0 (answer)

There are probably a couple of ways to do this, but I chose multiplying it out in polynomial form to start with. (2z-2)(z+3)=0 ( I think it's the distributive law(I know it's one of the laws...) for the multiplication that's done, to make it a polynomial.) 2z(z)...
