Hello! I am a recent graduate from the University of the Pacific, earning my BA with a double major in Development and Cultural Change from the School of International Studies, and French with a concentration in French studies. I also earned an Economics minor while attending Pacific (that is impossible to say in one breath!). I graduated with Honors and I have experience tutoring students from 5th graders to college students to professionals. While attending university, I tutored math to 5th graders (and older) at an elementary school in Stockton. I worked at Pacific as a SUCCESS Program tutor and as a writing mentor for the library. At Pacific, I tutored college students in Economics, French, and World History. During my sophomore year, I studied abroad in Nantes, France where I perfected my French, and I am happy to say that I worked in Chateau Gontier, France for a semester as an English Language Assistant for three primary schools. I think TIME is a huge factor in learning and tutoring; therefore, I prefer to take one hour (preferably two hour) tutoring sessions where I review previous lessons and continue to build the student's skills. I love interacting with the student (specifically when learning Econ or French) where we use whiteboards in order to visualize the construction of a problem. I am very optimistic and excited to have the opportunity to share my knowledge with other students.
I graduated from the University of the pacific with a minor in Economics, so I find Econ very interesting. I could tutor someone in both basic micro and macro economics, history of economic thought, international trade, and economic development. I aspire to gain my masters (at a later date) in Economic Development.
It is important to understand the basic grammar and vocabulary of any language in order to expand one's intellect. I believe that learning the basics in English allows a student to expand and express his/her thoughts more freely. I have experience working with students of various age groups to better their reading and writing skills. I was an AVID tutor at a local middle school in Stockton, where I tutored math and English. Then, I worked as a writing mentor for college freshmen and sophomores at the University of the Pacific.
I just obtained my BA with a major in French with a concentration in French Studies. I studied abroad for a semester in Nantes, France in the spring of 2010. I am also looking forward to helping students better their French because I myself am looking to practice my French. I just spent a semester in Chateau Gontier, France teaching English to three separate primary schools, with students between 1st and 6th grade.
Je pense que les langues sont tres importantes pour les eleves!
