Hi! My name is Rachel and I graduated from Princeton University with honors. I love teaching and mentoring! I have 14 years of tutoring and college/scholarship advising experience. At Princeton, I majored in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs (public policy) with an emphasis on global health. My core classes included: biology, chemistry, history, politics, and the humanities.
My teaching / mentoring philosophy: I love motivating my students to be interested in the subjects they are learning. I try to relate what my students are learning to their every day lives. I also enjoy being a mentor, and I frequently tell students and their families about different perspectives and stories about Universities.
College Advising: I am now primarily a college / grad school adviser. I have worked with students to plan for colleges as early as 8th grade. For college applications, I assist students with crafting their applications and editing their essays. I have advised kids that have gotten into: Harvard, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania, Stanford, Brown, Yale, Columbia, Georgetown, Pomona College, Boston University, Boston College, USC, UCLA, Berkeley, UCSD, UCI, Johns Hopkins, Wellesley, and Oregon State University.
Tutoring Experience: I have been tutoring students from 4th grade - 12th grade for the past 10 years. And, I have been extremely successful! Almost all of my students have raised their grades by more than one grade level. I helped one student raise his geometry grade from a C- to a B+ ... and another student raise her biology grade from a B to an A-.
Scholarship Advising: I have advised several students with scholarship applications - at a school, city, regional, and national level. My most recent advisee won $100,000 in scholarship awards this past year!
I look forward to hearing from you!
