I have a passion for education. I believe that knowledge is the one thing that no one can take away from you. Because of this, I have vowed to learn as much as I can in my lifetime and share my knowledge with those I meet. I am a young, determined and energetic teacher who is just starting out on her "Share the Knowledge" quest. I hold a TESOL certification to teach English to speakers of other languages from Kennesaw State University of Continuing Education. I am scheduled to start classes for my Spanish degree this winter. To gain experience in the TESOL field, I have done local volunteer work at my community church, library and community center, which opened the door to a whole new world of teaching for me. Each experience was a new, fulfilling one. Being a teacher doesn't only mean the opportunity to teach, but to learn as well. Being an ESL teacher is both rewarding and eye-opening.
My approach to teaching is motivation, dedication and commitment. You cannot learn without either and you cannot teach without either. I am not a strict person. I'm patient, understanding and energetic. I put my heart and personality into my work to make learning fun and not seem like a chore. I also do what works best for the learner, which means analyzing how they learn best. Each student I tutor is given a plan tailored to his/her learning style because what works for one student may not work for the other.
When I am not tutoring in the ESL field, I tutor elementary school children in areas of math, social studies, and English writing, reading, grammar and vocabulary. These are other areas of experience that I have. In my spare time I like to write, read, exercise and make arts and crafts.
Thank you for reading and I hope to work with you soon!
I have been cooking since the age of eight. From learning recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation in my family, to creating my own, I know my way around the kitchen. Homemade, natural recipes are my specialty.
I attended the Art Institute of Atlanta for two years under the media arts and animation program to become an animator before earning my certificate in the TESOL field. I am an anime artist who has given instruction on basic anime drawing techniques in anime club in high school. I also draw as a hobby and am an artist for a graphic design T-shirt company.
I have been an English tutor since middle school. I went on to high school to become one of the top English students in my grade, earning myself a position as a teacher's aide to assist my classmates with papers, grammar, vocabulary, etc. in the field of English. In college, I held the exact same position and often tutored my classmates after hours for English tests, assisted in essay writing and helped with English homework. I am also an active English tutor.
I have a certificate to teach ESL/ESOL classes as well as tutor in the subject. I attended Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA to obtain my certificate. I have volunteered at my local rec center as a teacher's aide, at libraries providing language classes and am currently holding both online and in-person learning sessions teaching English to speakers of other languages.
In English tutoring, I also tutor in grammar. It is one of my many strong suits in the English field. I have tutored in English grammar since middle school. It is a subject that I have a passion for and am exceedingly knowledgeable in.
I am passionate for reading, as it is an important skill. However, even if one can read, they can become a better, faster and more alert reader. I read as a hobby because it is a way to learn new words and keep the brain active. I would like to teach others to become better readers or to read if they do not know how.
I am qualified to teach spelling, because I have experience tutoring students from elementary through high school and college ages in the area of spelling, which goes along with the area of vocabulary. In elementary school I won a spelling bee and went on to place in the school-wide spelling bee. I classify myself as a superb speller and would like to offer my skills to others in this area.
I tutor my cousins for their vocabulary tests each Friday. I have also tutored classmates in the vocabulary fields for tests. I have a vast vocabulary that is based on situation, i.e. vocabulary varies when writing casually, writing essays, when speaking formally/casually, etc.
I have been writing since middle school. I continue to improve on my skills daily by teaching myself new writing techniques, skills, and writing under different genres. I also have a paid blog, participate in writing competitions and groups, and practice one on one with friends doing written roleplays for both fun and critiquing purposes. Writing is a passion and I would love to help others become better writers by sharing the knowledge I have learned with them.
