Hello, My name is Ishmael. I currently have an AA-Music Industry Studies, this degree is earned upon the learning of all general aspects within the music industry including; music theory and ear training, and performance. I've majored in vocals and have a long musical background. I have classical experience including some foreign languages and some popular and stage music. I also have an AA-Social and Behavioral Sciences.
I have played drums since I was 8 years old, I can play the harmonica, I have learned theory through the piano (including voice) and have taken three semesters of piano lessons, and I can dabble on bass. I have experience in the recording room, on stage set up, and with a mixing/sound board. My biggest gig so far is playing a small set at the House of Blues in San Diego. I have experience with composing and writing lyrics of about 4 years.
The fine arts are second in my passion, mostly in drawing. I can also tutor in math and exercise. Patience, is the key to helping a student achieve and be successful.
I played for five years. I played offensive line (including center) my first two years. I played middle and outside linebacker the next two years. The last year I played defensive tackle. I have studied films and have read playbooks. I know many training exercises (including weights and calisthenics) and techniques to better understand mentally and physically how to play. Teamwork ability and good character on and off the field are the main components to a winning team.
I have professionally been singing for 4 years, including with choirs and on some demo recordings. My methods incorporate the very basics of diaphragmatic breathing and voice connection. I know 30 exercises that can teach a singer how to use other head and neck areas to strengthen and smooth out the cracks in the voice. Classical training and music theory will also guide a student in sheet reading and tonal dictation. I have also incorporated most exercises to relate to animal sounds to remember how to properly practice and what to listen for. A mirror is also helpful.
