I’m originally from Brazil where I taught foreign languages for ten years including English as a second language, Portuguese to foreigners, French and Spanish. I taught children starting at the age of seven, teenagers, young adults, and adults, including but not limited to professionals such as lawyers, dentists, doctors, and bankers. I also tutored Spanish with ClubZ Tutoring for two years in Simi Valley, California.
I tutor each student taking into consideration what he/she needs or wants, and use the appropriate material for each case. When a student already has a book, as a high school student, I will follow their own school book as the basis for the tutoring. Then, I will either create new exercises or bring something I already have to reinforce what they have learned.
I do understand that sometimes teenagers feel reluctant about learning foreign languages. So, I take each point they need to learn and make it into a game which leads them feel more relaxed and helps them to learn with less effort. I give them helpful tips to remember verb conjugations, grammar points and vocabulary. I also use memory games which not only help with vocabulary assimilation of the target language, but also sharpen the brain.
