People engage tutors for a multitude of reasons which stem from two basic premises, either performance in a particular subject is lower than expectation, thereby necessitating remedial work, or performance is satisfactory, but the individual seeking out the tutor is looking for greater mastery over the specific topic in question.
In both cases, the traditional educational model of a one-size-fits-all institution fails miserably. The model divorces reality from scholastic development. The theory taught in schools is delivered in such a way that it has no relatable basis in the reality of the student.
As an example, when teaching language, especially English, we bombard our students with terms like “past-progressive infinitive” or “present participle,” which are terms that, to 99% of my previous students, held very little meaning, if any at all. Yet, these students used these parts of speech multiple times a day. By bridging the gap, by eliminating the rift between their daily language and the topic they were learning, the students were able to internalize the material and learn in a way that suited their understanding. As a result of the material becoming more accessible through their change in perception, the students’ performance improved.
In the case of an individual looking to unlock their fullest potential, it is important to note that no one particular policy will work for every student. It is therefore important to tailor the tutoring approach to fit the learning preferences of each individual so as to allow them the ideal environment and the freedom they need to let the learning process take place. It becomes, therefore, necessary to evaluate each case individually.
Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions you may have as to how I can help you or your loved ones reach their fullest potential in the topics in which I can tutor them.
Thank you for exploring the possibilities I can offer you in your academic journey. Let's unlock your fullest learning potential!
I graduated CSULA with a B.S. in business administration; option in accounting (basically means an accounting major). Furthermore, I received “summa cum laude” honors, as 1 of 3 out of 940 graduates in the college of business, and 1 of 20 out of 2500+ graduates in the entire university.
I have also run my own business for five years, which has paid for living expenses and school expenses during my attendance. This is to show that I know how to apply accounting principles in the real world. This broader understanding allows me to make the material make sense beyond a theoretical level.
I have run my own business for 5 years. The proceeds of this business paid for living expenses and finishing my degree at California State University: Los Angeles, from which I graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Business Administration with an option in Accounting and a minor in economics.
I helped tutor many other students while doing my coursework by showing them multiple perspectives on the same coursework and relating the theory to real experiences both in current events and in the students' own experiences (such as relating the explanations for the importance of internal controls to the job functions that the students in question held and the restrictions that came with their position, ex., why a manager needs to count the cash for a cashier and report it to HQ before a new cashier begins).
