I have been working as an educator since 1965. I have worked in both private and public school environments, K-Graduate University courses. I have also done extensive tutoring over these years in reading, writing, history, speech, and more. My goal is always to meet my students' needs. I am passionate about bringing creativity and critical thinking into instruction. I have several teaching credentials, as well as a Reading Specialist credential, and a Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate university. I am a lifelong reader myself. I understand that reading and writing proficiency are key components of school success for all students. I am experienced with using resources both online and offline to support learning. I am an experienced speaker at educational conferences on a variety of topics and have published in the field of education, as well as my own poetry. I understand that every learner is unique, and as I get to know the strengths and challenges of students, I work to adapt my teaching style to their learning style, and accomplish our agreed upon goals for their learning. I think it is very important for students to learn independent study skills that will help them going forward. Thus, I incorporate such tips into my work with each student.
