Hey there!
I'm Pedro, a professional music composer and film scorer. Although I have made music the focus of my professional life for the past twenty years, starting as a young piano student, I have a wide range of interests in all sorts of areas of academic study.
I hold several degrees and certifications in music, including a B. A. in Music Composition and Film Scoring from Berklee College of Music, a Film Scoring Graduate Certificate from UCLA Extension, and a Desktop Music Production Specialist Certificate from BerkleeMusic.com. I am also finishing a Masters in Music Composition at Universidad Simón Bolívar.
I have worked as a teaching assistant for Dr. Diana Arismendi, and have also been a private piano instructor. Aside from having interned at the Music Collective, part of the Alan Ett Creative Group, I currently volunteer at Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles as a composition teacher and at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital as a pianist. In addition, I play piano four nights a week at Culver City's Casa Sanchez restaurant.
In addition, I am fluently trilingual (Spanish, English, French).
My other interests and foci have been paleontology, Egyptology, biology, world, US, European, Asian and South American history, continental philosophy, aesthetics, art history, politics, neuroscience, culture, declamation, psychology, arithmetic, phonetics and orthography.
I want to inspire students to enjoy exploring the mysteries of any subject and get them on a lifelong path of learning. Having made this outlook my own personal philosophy, I have been enriched in innumerable ways: making interdisciplinary associations, improving my critical and lateral thinking skills and becoming more proficient in what I do.
If I could describe myself using just one phrase, it would be: "I love learning!"
