I have an AA with Honors in Biology from Santa Monica College, a BS in Biology from CSUN and a DDS from UOP School of Dentistry. I have been tutoring since 1969. I have tutored in schools publicly and privately from Highland Elementary, to Lincoln Jr High (now Middle School), to Santa Monica High School, to Santa Monica College, UCLA, and including CSUN. I tutored for the MEP and EOP programs in math up to calculus at CSUN along with general biology, general chemistry, microbiology, anatomy, physiology, dentistry, and reading at various levels and schools. I am currently an adjunct instructor at Cypress DH and am a certified instructor/tutor with Get Smart Tutoring Academy for the State of California.

I first start tutoring in how to study, how to read a textbook, and how to take notes. I find out what grade you want and where you currently are. Then I tutor you according to your needs.

I am patient and do my best to accommodate my students. I have worked with very bright intelligent students as well as those with special needs such as ADD, ADHA, and MS.

Algebra 1

I have taken Algebra 1 & 2 all the way up to and including Calculus. I have gotten A's in all my math courses. I have been a tutor in math ever since 1976. Each student has improved their grade by understanding the material better.

Biology

I am a biology tutor. I have a degree in biology from CSUN.

English

I have had English throughout college and have gotten "A's" every time. English is easy for me as I am a native speaker. Yet, I know it is a very difficult language to master, especially if you have not been a native speaker as my mother was born in China. So I have a special patience with those that do not speak or read English easily. But I have had success in this area as well.

Study Skills

I have been tutoring since 1979 and have been using the Cornell method of studying which was taught at USC. I have found that most students can benefit from these techniques. They include note taking, how to read a textbook, how to study for various types of exams in addition to other topics specific to the subject at hand.

Ballroom Dancing

I have been ballroom dancing ever since 7 years old. My mother taught me. Since then l have been taking lessons off & on.

I know Salsa, Tango, Swing (East & West Coast), among others. I can dance both the lead and follow.

MCAT

I passed the DAT (dental aptitude test) with flying colors prior to entering dental school. I assisted a number of students as an undergrad to study for their MCAT exams, they passed well, and were accepted to medical school. Now that I've been a dentist for over 20 years, the material is still very familiar and fresh as I have been tutoring math and science continuously since 1977. QuickBooks

I have been using Quickbooks since 1997 for my own finances as well as for my dental practice. I am well versed in payroll and general accounting as well as on-line banking.

I am able to navigate throughout Quickbooks 7 and have had some experience with Quickbooks 9.

NCLEX

I have tutored a number of students from the SMC nursing program. They have all passed and are practicing. Mostly they needed help with their math and science. Although they got into the program, their chemistry and math skills needed to be brushed up and tuned up to their standards.

ADD/ADHD

I have tutored a number of students with ADD & ADHD. They have all improved their grades. Some as much as failing and they now succeed. I find that they mostly need to be treated with patience and care.

CBEST

I assisted my mother and friends in studying the CBEST. The math and English skills are within my skill level. I passed the DAT which was harder and I have my doctorate in Dentistry. I took math all the way to Calculus and have been tutoring regularly in Algebra.

English is my first language and have always gotten excellent grade in that as well as math. I am well versed in taking timed standardized tests and know quite a few test taking techniques that have served me well.

Dentistry

I am a licensed CA general dentist with 23 years of experience. I have owned my own dental practice for 15 years. I currently teach dental hygiene at Cypress DH.

Macintosh

I have been using Mac since it was known as Apple C & D in CSUN in 19893. I have learned all the Mac software since up to and including Panther. I had an eMac desktop that I got in 2003. It still works and I upgraded to Tiger OS (10) until I finally upgraded to a Mac Mini with Panther (OS 10.7.x) I am well versed in MS Word, Excel, and Quickbooks/Quicken.

Microbiology

I have taken microbiology in Santa Monica College and in University of the Pacific, School of Dentistry. I have received an "A" both times. I have tutored microbiology at SMC, CSUN, and UCLA.

I have raised student grades from a "C" to an "A" with their hard work. I go over how to study, how to read a text, how to prepare for tests.

TEAS

I have a lot of experience in assisting students to pass the TEAS and enter the health professions. I have been tutoring students to enter nursing, medical, and dental programs since 1979. I have been a dentist since 1987. I have been teaching dental hygiene since 2007.

Chemistry

I have tutored basic chemistry for a number of years, ever since I took it in junior high, then again in high school. I took it again at the community college at SMC. There I was paid to tutor it at SMC and CSUN until I could get private students. Then I got students from UCLA & USC. I really love stoichiometry and molar theory. I also get the periodic table and gas laws among the electron valences.

Geometry

I took geometry in junior high. I later have had all the math including Calculus. I was afraid of math when I was little. I suppose I got past it!
