Dear Students and Parents,
Thank you for considering me!
I will be accepting new students for morning and evening times beginning on January 1. I have available times on Monday and Tuesday in the morning and evening, Wednesday morning, and Thursday and Friday morning and evening.
I currently teach English as a Second Language (ESL) at one of the best private institutions for learning English as a second language, which draws students from all over the world. I received a CELTA certificate from there in 2011.
If you would like to increase your confidence in speaking English, conversation is the best way to do that. “Practice makes perfect” is a cliché but it can also be true.
In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I offer private, one-on-one tutoring sessions to students who want to improve their grammar, vocabulary, speaking, and listening skills.
I find teaching English to be both interesting and valuable so I enjoy working one-on-one with students. When we start I will ask you about what areas you’d like to improve most; lessons are then personalized to your strengths, needs and weaknesses. I enjoy watching how my students’ confidence increases as they progress in mastering language structure and fluency.
In addition to General English, I also teach ESL/English for Specific Purpose—subjects such as business, engineering, real estate, software and career skills.
When I am not teaching English, I spend part of my time reading and writing. I also have a special passion for movies and music.
I am available for tutoring on evenings and weekends in your home or place of business. If you would like to work with me or if you have any further questions, please contact me.
I received my CELTA certificate in 2011. I currently teach ESL at St. Giles International in San Francisco. The curriculum includes grammar, speaking, vocabulary, listening, and writing. I am friendly and approachable, and believe in a student-centered teaching style.
I currently teach ESL at St. Giles International in San Francisco. The most important part of the curriculum is grammar. I am very knowledgeable in all aspects of grammar: tenses (including the perfect forms), articles, prepositions, conditionals, etc. During my teaching career I have developed very accessible grammar lessons that are adaptable to students at every level.
I proofread work from college level writers working on academic writing. Also, while finishing my BA in Creative Writing I had the pleasure of working with students who were writing fiction and nonfiction prose.
As a child I struggled with reading comprehension so I understand the frustration that reading can evoke in students. When I was younger I didn't like reading, but now it is one of my most enjoyable past times. I use a three pronged approach to teach reading: reading for gist (main idea), comprehension and detail. This can be accomplished with a book or article of your choice.
As an avid reader and writer I am constantly building my vocabulary by exploring a word's synonyms and antonyms. I believe building vocabulary can help improve your depth of self-expression both in writing and speaking.
