Classics

I have an M.A. in Classical Philology (Ancient Greek and Latin languages) from the University of Illinois and have completed most of the coursework in the classics Ph.D. program. I have completed 24 undergraduate hours and 12 graduate hours of coursework in Attic Greek. I've also taught Greek and Roman Myth and Ancient Greek Civilization as well as all levels of Latin. I have also been a Regular Member of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens and spent a year in their academic curriculum which includes extensive travel throughout the Mediterranean world studying archeological sites. In the last several years I have been tutoring Attic and Koine Greek.

I have an M.A. in Classics with a breadth of experience teaching, researching, and traveling in the ancient world as well as interacting with modern tools to present what I have learned in a way that engages today’s students. I have experience teaching students of all ages, 4th grade through adult. My strengths and interests lie at the intersection of Web 2.0 and knowledge of the languages, cultures and history of the ancient West. I have extensive experience collaborating with teachers, curriculum directors, students and parents. My teaching experience includes Latin (all levels), Ancient Greek language tutoring, Greek & Roman Myth, and Ancient Greek Civilization from primary through undergraduate levels.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
