I am currently a substitute teacher for K-12th grades. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English. I enjoy the moment when a student has that realization that it all makes sense. I enjoy bringing those moments alive for students. Everything we know we learn! I believe that I explain things clearly, and I have a great deal of patience in teaching. I have also had several years of being a full charge bookkeeper - and currently I am a volunteer treasurer. I enjoy math as well as English! I have self-published a children's book, and I am working on getting a series published. I look forward to meeting and working with any student who has the willingness to learn!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary (K-6th)

I passed the CBEST test, which allows me to be an Emergency Substitute Teacher for K-12. I am working as a Substitute Teacher for my 4th year for K-8th grades. I also now substitute 9th-12th grades too.

My bachelor's degree is in English.

Microsoft Excel

I have taken the Microsoft Excel basic, intermediate, and advanced classes. I completed MCDST (Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician) in 2009.

Microsoft Outlook

In 2009 I completed the two comprehensive tests to become MCDST - Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician. I worked as Help Desk Support and /Desk Top Support for 10 years.

Piano

I took piano for 6 years, and accompanied my choir in Junior High School as well as a person who played the flute at a contest.

For the last two years, I have assisted the Music teacher in teaching piano to 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. I enjoy piano and would very much enjoy teaching piano!

Best Regards,

Pam

Public Speaking

I have a Bachelor's Degree in English. I am a substitute teacher for K-12. I have participated in Toastmasters, a Club which assists in helping people become better speakers. I am a Liturgist at my church, and I am working toward a CLM (Certified Lay Ministry) through the United Methodist Church. I have been giving the sermons occasionally at my church for the last 3 years. I believe I am qualified to assist in Public Speaking.

QuickBooks

I have been the Volunteer Treasurer for my Church and have utilized QuickBooks for 4 years. I was a full charge bookkeeper for 6 years in Oregon. I feel I am more than qualified to teach QuickBooks.

Reading

My degree is in English Literature. I have written my own children's book. I believe reading is one of the most important subjects that a child or adult can be involved in. Reading is important to every other subject!
I love getting children excited about reading and understanding what they read.

Great tutor — Pamela has managed to work with my son's schedule to get what needed to be done. She gave him the right information and tips that needed to be given, for the SAT. She emphasized on many of my son's weaknesses. Overall Pamela is a great tutor to have. If my son ever needs a tutor or if someone I know needs a tutor, I would definitely recommend Pamela, as a wonderful tutor. ...
