Elementary (K-6th)

I have over 20 years of experience tutoring elementary school students in grades K-5(6). I have a B.A. from UCLA and I am CBEST qualified. I have tutored students in this age group in a broad range of core academic subjects and I have prepared students for the California standardized test, STAR.

Phonics

I have more than 20 years of experience working with students in elementary, middle, high school; and college. I am CBEST qualified. I have worked extensively with young children who are native English speakers as well as children who study English as a second language, to teach them phonics. I cover vowels, consonants, consonant blends, digraphs, silent letters, rhyming, and overall phonetics readiness.

Study Skills

I have over 20 years experience working with students of all grade levels, including elementary, middle, high school; college; adult. I have a B.A. from UCLA and I am CBEST qualified. I help students develop study skills by teaching analytical skills, time management, organizational skills, and test-taking strategies. I want my students to achieve a healthy balance between academics and other interests and activities.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
