Bar Exam

I have been a member in good standing of the CA bar since 1991. In addition, I have been a tutor for the past 10 years. I prepared a Colombian attorney whose native language was Spanish to take the Bar exam.

ESL/ESOL

I have an adult ESL credential issued by the State of California and was a teacher at the Beverly Hills Adult School in the individual tutorial program. This program was for those 18 years old and older whose native language is not English. It was run by the Beverly Hills Unified School District.

I developed lessons using provided texts and original supplemental materials I created myself. Lessons included grammar, vocabulary, idioms, pronunciation and essay writing. I instructed 25 students per week. Their native languages included Japanese, Korean, Farsi, Italian, French, Hebrew , Russian and Spanish, among others. My students ranged from those who had barely learned to read in their native language to those pursuing post-doctorate studies.

I was also one of the teachers in our Conversation class.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
