Over the past several years, I have had many great experiences tutoring. I worked at Cabrillo College’s Math
Learning Center (MLC) for 4 years before transferring to UCSC and transitioning into private tutoring only.
At the MLC, my wide breadth of knowledge as well as willingness to work with challenging students lead me to become one of the most often requested tutors. I enjoyed the challenge of switching between different levels of math, as well as subjects. I was unique in that I could effectively teach not only math, but physics
as well. There are many connections between these subjects, and I feel that an understanding in one can help strengthen the others. My abilities in these other subjects helped me to become a private tutor in my own time for both College and High School students alike.
Currently, I am attending UCSC as a Chemistry Major and tutoring privately in my down time. I have several students that I meet with regularly to help with various subjects, as well as some more intermittent clients. While tutoring began as a way to utilize what I had learned and make a little money, it has actually become one of the most fulfilling experiences I've had. Each time I hear of a pupil doing well on a test, I feel overjoyed and proud that I could make a difference in their lives.
I take great pride in my work and enjoy the challenge of finding which approach makes the most sense to any given student. Everyone is different, and my diverse experience with various mathematic subjects as well as other sciences lets me find connections and new approaches that others might miss.
