I am a professional educator with 30 years of teaching experience, which has included both general and advanced curriculum in science, math, statistics, business and education.

Algebra 2

I have taught at Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory School in Santa Cruz and previously at Escuela Pacifica, Pacific High School, and Daybreak School. I have both experience tutoring students at lower grade levels and graduate courses in higher level mathematics. I am sure that I can provide both and understanding and the mechanics required to perform in mathematics. I am also experience in obtaining and holding a students attention.

Business

I have held senior level CEO, CTO, COO, CFO and VP positions including >10 years at Seagate Technology. I have tutored MBA students including 2 years in Singapore and 2 years with joint MBA/ME program at Stanford University. I have a unique combination of experience in teaching and in working at executive levels in industry.

Chemical Engineering

I have advanced degrees in Engineering, including PhD level in equations of state and critical point analysis. I have > 10 years working experience including > 5 years with General Electric Nuclear Engineering Division; and, 2 years at CTO for a nano-technology start-up and 3 years at a silicon refinery start-up. I have taught at University of British Columbia Thermodynamics and Engineering Labs. My tutoring method is to teach basic principles and specific course materials in parallel.

Elementary Math

I am outstanding in both mechanics and understanding of basic priciples for elementary math and, I teach a student with examples and immediate feedback on their understanding. Can teach math following any previous experience of student.

Mechanical Engineering

I have advanced degrees in Engineering, including an MS ME from University of Michigan and PhD level at University of British Columbia. I have > 20 years engineering working experience including > 5 years with General Electric Nuclear Engineering Division and > 10 years at Seagate Technology; and, 2 years at CTO for nano-technology start-up and 3 years at silicon refinery start-up. I have tutored and mentored dozens of students during my long years of work, including 2 years at Stanford University.

Microsoft Excel

I have used Excel for many years - from its first release to present release. I have years of experience using Excel in business at all levels. Excel is my preferred program for almost all spreadsheet use. I am sure that I can teach you whatever you need. My time is flexible.

QuickBooks

I have advanced degrees including the equivalent of a PhD in math. I have experience in accounting at all levels. I keep my own accounts on QuickBooks for both profit companies and non-profit organizations. I am current providing consulting to a non-profit on conversion to the new release of QuickBooks. I can help with set up charts of accounts consistent with IRS filings and Board of Directors reporting.

Statistics

I am professional statistician. I have both Bachelor and Master Degrees including math and statistics. For my PhD I studied statistical methods for calculation of Equation of State for water at its critical point.

I am now retired. I worked for many years doing statistics as part of my job.

I have taught statistic classes at a school in Santa Cruz, which I founded 20 years ago. I am familiar with the AP Statistics Test.

I am able to teach from introductory level to advanced topics such as Monte Carlo modeling and analysis of biological data.
