One of my best friends, from my youth, told me that I have a comic-book mind. At the time I was not too excited to have my friend stick me with what I perceived to be a negative descriptive tag. It seemed to be shallow somehow. Over the years I came to see the truth and insightfulness of the observation. The truth is that I really do process thoughts in pictures. Someone can ask a question and I envision the answer as a descriptive image, kinda like a storyboard. So much for the cerebral calculating experience of rich bankers, doctors and lawyers. I was doomed to forever have the processing skills of an artist.

As a photographer, I have a variety of abilities and interests. And like everyone, I like more things than I have the desire or ability to shoot well. However, when it comes to what I enjoy shooting most, I would always answer the same way.....People! People in any environment, from young children to senior citizens, from weddings to youth events to even solemn funeral events, from studio portraits to (my favorite) sports athletes in the action mode.

I take my time and am patient to get the shot that tells the story of the subject. I am photojournalistic in my primary approach to life and always try to have my camera with me (at arms length) to be prepared to capture images of real-life expressiveness. Sure I can shoot landscapes and bushes, and appreciate the beauty of God's creation, but my best still life images usually come from the being-at-the-right-place-at the-right-time perspective. Give me a face, a place, and a bit of time and I can guarantee that you will see the passion in the image.

Adobe Photoshop

I have been an Adobe user since the first version of Photoshop came out in the 90"s and would love to help you learn how to use it to meet your needs.

Baseball

I have many years of experience teaching and managing young men in the specifics and history of baseball in America. From Little League to College age players, I have been part of many programs. I have even designed training devices intended to develop defensive skills in any age player. In addition, I currently manage a college age team (10 years, this year), with 2 former Major League players (Bret Barberie - Marlins and Rene Gonzalez - Angels & Orioles). We have a track record of success training young men to understand what it takes to make it at any level of play. We have placed dozens of players in colleges and even professional ranks.

Macintosh

I have been using the Macintosh platform for 25 years. I started using a MacPlus while I was working as Manager of the Kinko's Copy Center in Reseda California. That was way before Fed Ex was even a thought. I used the precursor to InDesign (Aldus Pagemaker/Adobe Pagemaker) for magazine layouts. I have taught classes in Pagemaker, Illustrator, Photoshop, Excel, I still have my Imac (24inch Intel processor) and have worked as a Mac troubleshooter for all those years. I am a photographer and use my 2 IMacs on a daily basis. As a graphic designer, Mac was, is and will ever be my choice for production.

I have the experience and knowledge to explain and show all the necessary aspects of how light affects whatever subject you are needing to capture. Have tutored many on the use of "portraiture in natural light", Have been chosen to be part of a Photojournalism collaborative collection hosted by the Getty (2010).

As to the specifics of photography as a lesson, I shoot mostly with a digital camera (Canon 5D). I understand the workings of digital from aperture, to lighting, to accessories (diffusers, etc.) to planning for lighting disasters, to portraiture setups, and much more. I am able to communicate the necessary tools to make a successful final image, and most fun of all, I can get a great action sports image to work.
