I play bass and the trombone as my two principal instruments. I also play the electric bass, and the guitar. I am trained on brass, woodwind, double reed, strings, and percussion. I can prepare your child for any audition, or recital. My practice techniques will get you or your child ready for any concert. Memorization is one result of my practice technique. My experience as a band director and training in college has made me familiar with all the struggles new players go through on their given instruments.

Ear Training

I was on the dean's list for all four of my semester length aural skills classes during my time in college. My last year I was a teacher's assistant (TA,) for first year aural skills classes. Currently, I teach ear training on my music teacher job to middle school students, band, and choir.

Guitar

Guitar was one of the first instruments that I learned to play. I can teach styles on the guitar from jazz to Latin to rock and everything in between. I am a very good sight reader and I can teach music reading and theory as it applies to the guitar. I have played guitar in swing bands and for musical theater, which requires knowledge of many different styles.

Music History

I took four semesters of music history while in college for my Bachelor of Music degree. I studied periods of music from ancient music history to music in the 20th century. I received high grades and remained on the deans list during my time in college. I have received inspiration for composing by studying 20th century music history.

Trombone

Trombone is one of my two primary instruments. I am an active player playing in professional wind ensembles. I also play in many shows, and musical theater. I also have many years of experience playing in swing bands, jazz bands, dance bands. I am also an active trombone teacher, I also studied trombone every semester while I was in college.
