Teaching Experience/Tutoring Philosophy:
I have been teaching since college. My tutoring/teaching experience includes working for Kaplan as an LSAT instructor and private tutor, teaching and tutoring ESL/TOEFL at various schools and teaching introductory Russian at SUNY Binghamton. I have been described by my teaching supervisors as a "natural teacher" and I pride myself on making difficult material accessible to everyone. In addition to explaining the material clearly and efficiently, my goal as a tutor is to share effective study skills and test taking techniques to ensure continued academic success.
I am a graduate of the prestigious Stuyvesant High School in New York City which admits just 800 of the 28,000 or so applicants annually. I graduated from SUNY Binghamton with a major in political science, a minor in Spanish and a 3.9 GPA. I also spent a year studying international relations at the London School of Economics. I received my JD from NYU School of Law (one of the top 5 law schools in the country) where I was an active member of Moot Court and represented NYU law in several national competitions. I have taken both the NY and CA bar exams and passed both on the first attempt. I worked as a litigator for 9 years--regularly appearing in Court and conducting numerous trials. I began my legal career as a prosecutor with the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and subsequently worked for a top international law firm as a civil litigator. After 9 years as a litigator, I am transitioning to part time work in order to spend more time with my two small children.
